KING Results and Wrap-Up: Washington Open

KING brought nearly 40 swimmers to the Washington Open meet at KCAC this past weekend. 800+ swimmers competed representing over 45 team from several states. KING finished 5th overall in team scores, a true team effort for all swimmers who raced in the meet!

Meet Highlights

New Qualifiers

Congratulations to Shah Grewal and Keaton Cannaday for achieving their first Senior Sectional Championship qualifying times. Shah qualified in the Men’s 1000 Freestyle (9:55.54), while Keaton qualified in two events- Women’s 100 Freestyle (53.67) and the 200 IM (2:11.25).

Senior Sectionals is a prestigious meet held every Short Course and Long Course season that features the fastest swimmers from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Arizona. It is the first step of the USA Swimming Championship meet series that includes the Futures Championships, Winter and Summer Jr. Nationals, and culminates with US Senior Nationals/US Open and Olympic Trials.

All Time Performances

3 KING Swimmers turned in Top 5 all-time team performances at the meet.

  • Cota Clise turned in two Top 5 all-time swims for the KING 15-16 Boys age group: 50 Breast (27.17; 5th all-time) and 200 Breast (2:03.70; 5th all-time)
  • Andrew Coombs also turned in a Top 5 all-time swim for the KING Boys 15-16 Boys age group in the 50 Fly (22.95; 4th all-time)
  • Aiden Hammer put up another Top 5 all-time swim for the KING Boys 15-16 age group in the 200 Fly (1:50.27; 4th all-time)
  • Camden Doane broke into the Top 5 all-time KING swims in the 15-16 girls age group in the 50 Breast (29.78; 2nd all-time)

Individual Champions

KING had 3 Swimmers place 1st overall in one or more individual events. This was a fast meet with a lot of depth so placing first overall in an event represents an elite level performance. Swimmers placing first overall included:
